I have just made a test "Auto Install" of R5.5 on a PVR-350
MSI motherboard Athlon 1400 system and the video flickers.
The text displayed with the video (like the OSD) is very bad
too.

The X text (mythtv interface) is fine. The console text (Ctrl-
Alt-F1) is fine.

Everything else (TV watching wise) seems to work except
that shutdown freezes (which I haven't looked into yet).

Edit: Moral of story, re-read TJC's hints, even if you already
read them once. Fixed by known issue 2.1.4.

Do you have the 'PVR350OutputEnable'" set as per Known Issues #2.1.4?

I had not set that so it is at the default value.

Sorry. Read the 5.5 hints, but I missed it.

I am back at girlfriend's house and will try another test install of 5.5 to
see if this fixes it. I will update the title of this thread to include "fixed"
if it does.

Thanks
Cliff

If you use the PVR-350 X frame buffer driver it works OK as a video card but you don't get the benefits of the builtin mpeg decoder for video playback. The fact that it plays back TV at all is a tribute to what a good job the ivtvfb folks did. ;-)

Original post: I tried enabling this and it fixes the video
problem, but when it is enabled, the audio does not work.
I tried setting the 'TV audio thru PVR-350 only' setting both
ways and it did not fix the audio issue.

Edit addition: I played around with alsamixer and got the audio
working
too. Makes sense that with everything going thru X it
was talking straight to the sound card, but when configured to
send the mpg thru the PVR-350 that it would process the audio
and that only then the sound card input would have to
be configured correctly.

I'm guessing that you have loop back jumpers from the audio output of the pvr-350 to one of the sound card inputs so that you can control all your audio volumes and outputs via the sound card?

Yes, and I knew it worked under R5F27.
