Post subject:  /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend script no longer runs at startup

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem of my own making...

I have upgraded to myth 1.15.1, compiled from source actually following cesman's recommendation on the forums. The compile and install went without problems, however the mythbackend no longer starts when I boot.

I tried running the /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend script and it only works when I am logged in as root. With all other logins I get the error :

"Starting Mythtv server: mythbackendstart-stop-daemon: Unable to set gid to 101"

at which point the script fails. There are no entries made to the /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log file at this point.

Just one more odd thing, I had to restore the /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend script from the cd because i messed it up.

I suspect it is a problem with some access privileges on some files but I don't know which ones. All the myth related files in /usr/local/bin are owned by 'root'. So is the mythtv-backend script which has read/write privileges for all. :o

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
M
