So I have a roommate that watches my mythtv all the time. I wouldn't be upset but it is hooked into the big TV in the living room and I would like to watch it out there instead of watching shows from the backend on my computer monitor. Is there any way to block channels/shows? Or is there anyway of locking mythtv for a period of time? |

I don't know of a way to directly 'block' channels or shows similar to the way a hotel might, but you can edit the listings you get from schedules direct (on their site) so you don't get listings for channels, then also edit those channels out of myth so it doesn't "know" about that channel. Of course, if you want anything recorded on that channel, it can't do it. |

Dunno about locking out channels beyond removing them from your lineup. I don't think there's a way to lock down the frontend for a time period without you physically start/stopping it... have you considered locking the box via xscreensaver? How about telling your roomate you'll throw a beating on him if it touches your stuff ![]() |

Burn him a copy of the KM 5.5 cd. He can run his own front-end on his own computer directly off the CD. (It's a live distro too, not just an installer!) Then again, it's your mythbox, but who owns the TV? I don't think your problem should be solved by passive-aggressive application of technology. You need to get on those negotiation skills. |
