Just something I've noticed, but not found any information relating to.

Recently playing round with some stuff I borked (it was definitely my fault ) my install, so grabbed the R6.00.8 torrent, auto-upgraded, updated and have noticed that MythVideo updates it's list of videos automatically!

Now by no means am I complaining, I researched long ago a way of doing so and shoved it in the too hard basket. I'm just curious as to how it works and how often it updates!

Whoever implemented this feature, I tip my hat in thanks! :D

Yes, I have to admit, a great feature.

However, all of my MythVideo files are on a fileserver that my KnoppMyth box accesses via wireless, so every time I go to watch videos, it takes a good 2 minutes before the list comes up.

Is there a way to turn this auto-scanning off?

That's weird, mine doesn't take 2 minutes, I figured it was a scheduled task rather then scanning on demand.

Just to note, I am using NFS over wireless.

Cell 01 - Address: 00:21:27:ED:1C:24
ESSID:"my_essid_isnt_this"
Mode:Master
Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6)
Quality=31/70 Signal level=-64 dBm Noise level=-95 dBm
Encryption key:on

Not perfect signal, have no issues. What also makes me think it isn't live scanning is because I have nearly half a terabyte of videos, approximately 1500 files. All in lots of nested folders.

Well it could be live, but certainly not scanning on opening of MythVideo?

Two minutes after I posted, I figured out how to turn it off. The list now comes up in 3 seconds, but if I add any new videos, I have to do a manual scan before I can see them. That's what I wanted anyway.

What did you have to do?

Is there an option under mythvideo in setup that has a check box for 'show all files regardless of updates' or something like that? I'm not around my mythtv box now or I'd check for you. I have mine checked so that it never updates the db, rather it simply displays the contents of /myth/video which avoids that wait time for the update to take place. I'll try to remember to post the exact name of that option I'm thinking about later.

Hrm, if that's the case I'd probably still want to automate it. Will be looking at that Script to put all the details in soon as well:

I think this is the setting I was thinking about:

Utilities/Setup>Setup>Media Settings>Video Settings>General Settings (2/7)>Newly scanned files are browsable by default
