Post subject:  R6 Frontend segfaults [Solved]

All has been working fine, and I've been keeping abreast of pacman updates. However, I was watching recordings today and my remote stopped working. I restarted the window manager with alt-cntl-backspace. I get back to the linhes desktop, but no frontend. The logs didn't indicate any problem, so I tried starting mythfrontend from a terminal window:

Segmentation fault

All the feedback is typical based on past log entries (the ip's were correct, i just "dotted" them out). The backend appears to be fine, as I can access it with mythweb.

I'm not sure where to look for issues, so any guidance is appreciated.

The problem with the remote, was the remote itself, so I don't think that has anything to do with the issue. This was the first restart of the frontend since applying pacman updates yesterday (7/18/09), and I do recall seeing a mythtv update among them. Could that be the issue?

In looking further, it looks like the segfault is in libjpeg.so.7.0.0. From messages.log:

Code:
Jul 19 14:50:00 mythtv mythfrontend[10808]: segfault at 24 ip b2629a8e sp bfe8bd70 error 6 in libjpeg.so.7.0.0[b261a000+34000]

Seems like this is related to the update that broke mplayer.

I figured out that my "workaround" for an mplayer / libjpeg issue causes the frontend to seg fault. I'll leave future "fixes" to the experts :?
