I updated my nVidia drivers recently to 173.14.20 & can't think of anything else that was changed. Since updating however, my backend will no longer start (see below). There are no msgs in syslog & mythbackend.log is 0 bytes. Any suggestions? I'm completely at a loss...

Running R5F27

TIA,

Paul

P.S. I did a google but surprisingly came up completely empty handed, only one hit on the first error and the guy got around it by running it as root which obviously I don't want to do, even if it did work...

You need to start and stop daemons as root... Based on the prompts shown you were trying as mythtv without using sudo which just isn't going to work.

Oh, I assumed MythTV started them. Nonetheless, if you look at my quote, I did also use sudo & got a different error. I get the same seg fault if I log in as root and try it that way. Any ideas? I'm confused as I can't think what changed other than the nVidia drivers. Well, ok, I also did an

in anticipation of upgrading mplayer per the wiki article below. I did not, however, do any other steps in that article other than install git-core. I can't think of anything else that might have changed. I tried rebooting the server, no difference.
