Are there plans to rebrand the forums now that R6 has gone gold?

1) I still get the "knoppmyth.net, the home of knoppmyth" on the top of my screen as well as the KM logo in the upper left.

2) The links on the main page point to the old mysettopbox.tv domain.

3) If I try to login to http://linhes.org/phpBB2/login.php it redirects me to http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/login.php

According to a couple DNS lookups I just tried, linhes.org and knoppmyth.net resolve to the same IP address, 140.211.166.97 (so http://140.211.166.97/phpBB2/login.php is a third way to contact the same instance of phpBB2). It's less of a redirect than just one being a "synonym" for the other at this point. Therefore, any given link on the main page like http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html also works as http://linhes.org/knoppmyth.html.

Right, but the whole point is to rebrand the product which is best accomplished with a consistent web presence.

Graysky, I think it would be a great idea to do a full rebranding and point the older domain names to the new one, linhes.org. What you might find though is Cecil pressed for time on this sort of thing.

I appreciate from a marketing perspective that it would be great to have everything consistent across the board however, I think Cecil is concentrating more on the core product.

Could I suggest if you did want something to happen you jump across and put in a flyspray bug to see what happens.

My main question is how do I pronounce LinHES? At least I could say Knoppmyth out loud...

@Girkers - good point, I know cesman is a busy guy. I'll open up a new ticket as per your suggestion, if nothing else than to get it on the RADAR screen.

@kmkittre - I believe it's pronounced, "Lin-hes" just like it's spelled. I'm not 100 % sure, but I think you can hear cesman himself pronounce it somewhere in the hour-long interview he did about a two years ago:

http://www.ageekandhiswife.net/2007/10/ ... watson.php

Even though it is 2 years old, have a listen.

I did the interview, btw ;-)

I should see if he wants to do a new one now that R6 is out officially...

I still say it doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as knoppmyth, and word of mouth means a lot when it comes to open source.

I think we should call it Mythtastic ;-)

Cool. I think another might be appropriate not that R6 launched. Do you have a counter or some stats on how many people downloaded the mp3 version? Just curious what kind of following at this level there really is out there.

I host the file on libsyn and according to them the file has been downloaded 855 times. I'm not sure how accurate that number is.

It is, however, the most downloaded episode of my podcast...

Oh man, we really should have had this thread earlier. I've always thought LinHES was an even worse name name than Knoppmyth but didn't say anything. Not only is LinHES harder to say it doesn't reference MythTV at all which is what people are actually after.
Off the top of my head I thought QuickMyth or Mythix would have been better names.

Oooh, I like Mythix.

Or maybe now that it's on Arch it could be called ArchMyth or MythArch?

btw, Cecil can call it whatever he wants, I just appreciate all the hard work that's gone into an awesome product.

It's just hard to tell my friends to go download LinHES without my mouth feeling funny...

Incorporating Arch into the name would cause the same problem as knoppmyth if Cecil later decided to move away from that distro.

Ultimyth was another name that came to mind but it sounds like you have a lisp.

I personally think the Forums should seperate between R6 and R5.5 and below. I have been having a hard time finding good information lately since I installed R6. Now I have to look at the date of the last reply to see if the fix will work for me.
LinHES I think it sounds like Linux in my mind.
