I have a fresh install of LinHES 6.01.0. Here are my major hardware players:

Haupauge PVR-250
ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro (256MB) PCI Express 16x video card
500 GB SATA Drive
2 GIG RAM

I am connecting to my Sony Bravia with an HDMI cable out of my DVI.

When I watch live TV and choose to see the program guide from the menu the guide will display for a second then just flicker while live TV is playing. I have to exit out of both the guide and TV to get it to stop and back to the main menu.

Any ideas on what could be happening? Or where to go to see whats going on in the back ground?

Thanks

Johnboy,

I assume that the program guide works when you view it via "schedule recordings/program guide?"

If it doesn't, it generally means you have a problem with your channel list in the backend.

If it does, then you'll have to wait to hear from more knowledgable people than me, I'm afraid. The front end log file is generally a pretty good place to start, though, in "/var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log"

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it does work outside of watching TV.

I have opened a ssh connection on my laptop and tailed the "everything.log" and then made the problem occur but no events were logged.

I don't know if the "everything.log" file includes the mythfrontend log. I will look at it and see if anything comes up.

Until then maybe someone else know where to start.

Try toggling the setting that allows playback to continue while in the PG so that it pauses instead. (Sorry I'm at work and can't lookup the exact name or location.) The resized video stream coupled with the guide display isn't too efficient or stable under a lot of systems.

If that fixes the problem, but you really do want to have playback continue while in the guide (which is indeed nice to have), then you might be able to dial down your playback settings until you find something that works.

As discussed in this recent thread http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20408 the program guide with inset HD video can chew a lot of CPU.
