There are quite a few articles out there describing how to get your MBE to set a wakeup time for itself and then fall asleep (and possibly put some SBEs to sleep also). But what I don't see is an MBE that's on 24X7 with an SBE that is woken/put to sleep as appropriate.

In my case my MBE is running in a virtual machine. My SBE has 3 tuners, runs on a separate box in the garage & happens to boot from the MBE in a diskless fashion (via nfs etc). I do not need the SBE to run any commercial flagging jobs or anything like that, merely to wake up when I want it to record something and fall asleep when done. The wakeup/shutdown settings with myth-setup->General appear to want to shut down the MBE & all SBEs but I want to keep my MBE always running.

My goal should be simple enough, or at least I thought it would be but I can't seem to figure out how to do it or if indeed it is supported at all.

/myth is stored on a central nfs server. I am running R6. TIA.

It seems that Myth does not support this & that it only supports shutting the MBE & all SBEs down, or shutting nothing down. So I went and did this myself & the result is below. I'm sure parts of it are a bit ugly & I'm happy to get any & all feedback but be nice - I'm still a bit of a linux noob.
