Post subject:  PATA DVD Drive in R6

With R5.5 and lower, hdparm could be used on PATA dvd drives to tinker with DMA settings and whatnot to try to smooth out DVD playback on the mythtv Internal Player. With R6, all of the drives, including PATA are treated like SATA/SCSI drives.

sudo hdparm /dev/dvd
Code:
/dev/dvd:
 IO_support    =  0 (default)
 readonly      =  0 (off)
 readahead     = 256 (on)
 HDIO_GETGEO failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

sudo sdparm /dev/dvd
Code:
    /dev/dvd: PIONEER   DVD-RW  DVR-111D  1.23  [cd/dvd]
Read write error recovery mode page:
  AWRE        0  [cha: n, def:  0, sav:  0]
  ARRE        0  [cha: n, def:  0, sav:  0]
  PER         0  [cha: y, def:  0, sav:  0]
Write parameters (MMC) mode page:
  BUFE        1  [cha: y, def:  1, sav:  1]
  WR_T        0  [cha: y, def:  0, sav:  0]
  MULTI_S     3  [cha: y, def:  3, sav:  3]

Is there anyway to mess with the settings on the dvd drive using sdparm? Or are they pretty much fixed?
