Dale and I have decided to release R4V2. Yes, we are still working on R5, but that release is still "out there."

Why R4V2?

Well, the main reason is MythTV 0.13 maybe released next week. We'll have debs for R4 as well.

If debs of 0.13 will be available for R4. What is going to be different about R4v2?

    Fixes(XMLTV for one)
    /etc/modutils/User
    Improved documentation
    Additional drivers
Support for various remotes "out the box"(hopfully)

How you can help?

Please let us know which remotes you are using.
If you have a custom lircd.conf and .lircrc and .mythtv/lircrc, please send them to me so that I may include them in R4V2. Visit the "Problems and Solutions" forum and what issues you had and how you solved them.

When will R4V2 be released?

We'd like to release it a day or two after 0.13 is released.

I have R4, should I upgrade to R4V2?

No, just get the debs.

Cecil

PS: As a favor if you can edit your profile and let me know where you are located, I'd appreciate it. Don't worry I don't plan on doing anything with this information. I just think it would be cool to know where everyone is from.

Not the address, but like maybe the city, country/state.
It would be nice to see the geographical distribution.

Thanks,
Dale

I there any chance of including a possible ivtv driver patch to fix the random hangs the hauppauge cards are having? I am not sure if it will be out in time. It would be great though.

This remote should work out the box. Did you install the package w/ LIRC built-in?

I have only standard setup done with a monitor, and then attached at the tv, but I don't see anything. I am a linux beginner.... be patient with me :)

it is in the install instructions, also the tv instructions are in the installation docs as well, at least for just tv out. they don't have anything about monitor + tv, but you can look at the nvidia driver docs for that which are linked from the instalation docs.

After rebooting and entering the root password...You are asked which package you want to install. I guess you went with the default... TO install MythTV w/ LIRC as root:install-i686l

There is no need to reinstall. As root run:install-i686l.

R4V2 has been killed. Dale and I talked about and decide to make more changes that we originally planned. So may changes that we are going to call it R5. We will be included some of the feature requests made for R5. Others we cannot include since we don't have the hardware needed to build and test on. Debs of 0.13 will be out as soon as we can make and test....
