My DVD rip fails after copying and before transcoding. I'd like to look at the log file to find out what went wrong, but I can't find it!

Any idea where it is? (It's not var/log/messages or var/log/syslog or var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log)

-Andy.

Figured out my problem - if you deselect "Use XviD instead of DivX" it won't transcode. I really want DivX transcodes, so does anyone know what could be wrong? How to enable that?

I'd still also like to know where the logs are...

Thanks!

-Andy.

I don't know where the log is kept(neved looked to find it...). You mythfrontend from an xterm, you should see some output from mtd(myth transcode daemon.

Aha! When you said "mtd" it triggered a memory of a file I'd seen...

It's mtd.log and it's kept at /myth/tmp.

Now, how to configure mtd so it puts the log where everyone else does! (i.e. /var/logs)

Unfortunately, it doesn't have any error message in it, I have to assume the DivX codec is not installed or something...

Thanks!
