Ugh - I've had enough with the crappy output quality on my onboard GF4MX card. I'm beginning to think that everything on TV has a bright red tint and then I'm shocked when I venture out into the real world
Anyway, I'd like dual tuners. I currently have a PVR-250 and I'm thinking that getting a PVR-350 would kill 2 birds with one stone: Get me better TV-out and add the second tuner.
Thus, after reading the "suggestions for R5" thread, I could not tell if R5 will support TV-out and dual tuners out of the box. Does anyone have any comments?
As an aside, has anyone gotten the TV-out on a PVR-350 working with R4? Perhaps that would hold me over until R5 comes out.
Thanks,
Mike

Multiple tuners work out the box currently. Getting the 350 tv out to work can be hit or miss. Seems like it is mostly misses so far... When R5 is released we will try have have a setup for tv out on the 350. However due to the drivers, chipset, motherboard, etc this is not a gaurantee. Although I have a 350, I have not tried getting TV out to work. My personal recommendation at the moment is to skip TV out on the 350. After I get it working, I may change my mind.

Oh and on a side note to fix the bright red tint on the gforce4 mx you need to go into setup and check the box for use XV output then you can use the F key to scroll through hue, color, britness etc and adjust the red out. To get the red out you have to wash out the color slightly, but with the proper tuning you can get a pretty decent picture.

Thanks for the answer, cesman!
Hmmm.... the difficulty I've been reading about getting the PVR-350 TV-out to work is a real bummer. It has forced me to consider getting a a VGA-to-TV scan converter ($75 or so) and forgoing the 2nd tuner/TV-out from adding the 350. Financially, it makes more sense to get the 350 since the scan converter would not be needed once that's working, but I also don't want to buy a 350 and then find that I cannot get the TV-out working...
Anyone have any advice from actually using a scan converter? Are they worth it? Any ideas on the "momentum" of the ivtv guys when it comes to getting the TV-out on the 350 working reliably?

You snuck-in on me while I was typing the previous reply, Xsecrets!
I've tried dicking with the color controls a bit, and I can get it fairly acceptable, but the reds are still accentuated enough that they stand-out. I'll mess with things some more and see what I can do.
BTW, those settings only affect actual playback, right? No matter what settings I make with the Fkeys, the MythTV TV menu (with the red sections on the buttons) is still bleeding red.

You're welcome. As I don't have a scan converter I don't know. Someone has posted something on the mythtv user mailing on building one. As I don't speak to anyone doing development on the ivtv drivers on a regular basis, I don't know. Given the generic nature of the PC, they may not be able to do anything about it.

I think TV out is a VERY important feature for many 350 owners. If there is any way to increase support for this or to make it easier to use, then I plead with you to try. Thanks so much for the so many things that make knoppmyth great!

I was able to get the TV out on my 350 working after upgrading to 0.13 following cesman's post located here and using the TV Out guide on the IVTV site. It is working very well, my MythTV machine has not crashed once and the output of the 350 is great, much better than when I was using the output of my GeForce card. MythVideo doesn't work well, the frame rate is very low but I understood this before I started. I can watch my Divx files on the computer for now it's not a big deal, I mainly want to watch/record TV on my MythTV machine and for now it's working great.

I use this cable http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=578791&Sku=G126-1034&CatId=316 since I was sick of the crappy output on my 440MX. It's much better looking output, and an acceptable solution w/ my pvr 250 for now. I can also hide it behind my box so it's out of sight.
