I've got my box set up on the university network, and I'd like to use the web interface as it's a bitch to use the remote for scheduling and stuff. However, I don't want it exposed to the network so that anyone can logon and change programming schedules and delete data. Is there anyway that I can password protect the web interface so that I'm the only one that can access it? Thanks |

A KnoppMyth box on a Uni network sounds like a hackers paradise to me. The system is about as wide open as Les Nessman's office. If you don't put it behind a firewall of some kind you're doomed to be cracked. |

I know this doesn't solve the security problems which are many, and mostly by design, but there is a howto over on the wiki for passwording mythweb. step by step. |

Second thing I tried was "securing mythweb"... http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=212 Maybe I should quit my regular job and give expensive 3 day seminars on how to search the web. Or better still, hire a bunch of underpaid and under appreciated Library Science types, and have them do it, while I sit back and rake in the big bucks.
