I was just wondering someone told me you could compile lirc with all the modules you just couldn't have them all loaded. So I was thinking if we could get lirc compiled with all the modules it should be possible to write a script that allows the user to chose which modules to load and pull the proper lines from the /etc/myth/modules dir similar to what the bttv and ivtv stuff does.

I am not a maintainer and my scripting skills are limited, but does this sound feasable?

Yes, it does. That is what we are planning...

actually I've been thinking more about this and the lirc team already has the install.sh script which has the logic in it for which card needs which module, so the easiest thing might be to borrow their script an modify it so that instead of compiling the appropriate module it just edits /etc/modutils/Knoppmyth file to import the proper file from /etc/myth/modules.

Thanks, Xsecrets, you have been a great help on the forum on many occasions before and this is just another example of that. I shall have to give this script a 'looksee' when the time comes for that phase of development for R5.
Once again, thanks.
