CD Import Not Working

Post subject:  CD Import Not Working
I have done a clean install with r4v5. Everything is going well except for the CD import option. I have a cdwriter and dvd rom installed. I was able to do cd import and dvd playback before with this same hardware, but not now.

TV, Recording and LVM working fine. I just need to get the cd import and dvd playback working.

I have checked etc dev and it appears that the DVD is cdrom and the cdwriter is cdrom1 and there is a symbolic link to scd0 and scd1.

When I try to import a cd it just goes to a blank screen and does nothing. It will let me escape, so it is not hanging.

Anyone have any ideas? All help is greatly appreciated. :roll:

If your system is like mine, your drive is linked to /dev/scd0. My permissions were set too restrictively on this device so I did:

chmod 777 /dev/scd0

Note: 777 may not be the optimum value, but I'm not worried about security and I just wanted to grant access to everyone, everything, and anyone who wanted it. :)

The right thing to do is fix the group ownership and make sure all the relevant users are in that group. Searching should have found this: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2566
