I'm trying to setup a static IP address on my master backend, but I'm having nothing but trouble. I tried adding the ip address and hostname to /etc/hosts, I attempted to create /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file with all the correct information, and numerous other things that did not work. Would someone be able to guide me step by step on how to do this. Thanks in advance. |

two things. 1) make it easy on yourself and run netcardconfig 2) this is debian based /etc/sysconfig is not the place to make changes. for networking debian uses /etc/network/interfaces. You only really have to bother with this if you want to make it hard on yourself and not use netcardconfig. |
