Post subject: | Help With UK Setup, What Should KnoppMyth Do? |
I have been trying to get KnoppMyth working with UK Guide Data. I have searched the forum and have read that the version of xmltv that comes with KnoppMyth does not work with the uk_rt grabber I have followed the SkyDigiBox information at the knoppmythwiki site but whatever I do (I have tried 10's of permutations) I just can't get the system to get the guide data correctly. I have been trying to get it to work with the .37 release of XMLTV. Could anyone who has setup for UK guide data tell me exactly what needs to be done and when to get the guide data? Simple stuff like should channels be automatically listed in option 5. Should anything be listed in option 4? I have resorted to having to type in channel information (option 5) using the XMLTV ID numbers from the channel file this partly worked but with loads of UTF8/Wide Char errors that seemed to be stuck in a loop so I cancelled. I can't even remember the permatation of getting it so it partly works anymore. When following the thread with commands like "install XML::Writer" to compile the new XMLTV version it says all but the location is correct in the automatic setup does anyone know what this location should be? I am just going around in circles I do not even know when I should be compiling XMLTV and should that be done via ALT-TAB terminal or a CTRL-ALT-F1/F2 etc? When I try to run mythtv-setup (or is it mythtvsetup) it says there is no X-something is available so I can't even return to the setup GUI to try changes? Does anyone know if there are plans for a version of KnoppMyth that automatically uses the new version of XMLTV etc? I am currently trying to setup with no Capture Card on a Celerom 1400Mhz with NVIDIA GF2 GFX card. Hope someone can help me. |

Post subject: | Uk Install Guide |
There is a pretty good install guide at http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/index.php?page=UKMythConfig I had to do a few things slightly different in it, but it was spot on for getting the channels setup. I'm located in Belfast, so my settings would be differnt from yours, but the jist is you go to select the alternative UK Radiotimes grabber, hit finish on that screen then hit Alt+Tab to get to the console, the console should read somethinng along the lines of Enter channel name or . to end. You Enter BBC1, then it will ask you to enter your region (BBC NI, BBC scotland, etc etc). Then you enter the rest of your channels. If your not sure of the names you can just go to the radio times website, login, and check was it gives ya. I had a problem with ITV, as it is UTV over here, but listed as Ulster. The rest of the steps are in that guide anyways, good luck, and if u run into problems, send me a message. -- Dave |

Thanks Dave. I have this running now but I have a couple of problems. If you are able to give any help it would be appreciated. I am currently running without a TV card as I want to review the functionality first so I do not know if that is causing the problems but: 1. I set a few recordings of common (on everyday) programs but none are appearing in the Schedule Recordings screen? Do you know why this may be? I wanted to review conflict resolution functionality etc? 2. Do you know if there is a guide that shows how to use the quick radio times grabber with KnoppMyth available http://www.alanbirtles.dsl.pipex.com/xmltv/xmltv.htm it takes approximately 10 seconds to get 14 days of data with it rather than 30 minutes with the xmltv 37 rt_alt? 3. When following the UKMythConfig wiki guide there is nothing listed in Option 4? TIA |
