I searched the FAQ for info regarding this, but didn't find anything. Can someone explain to me the difference in some PVR-250 capture options? Specifically, the stream type. The options are:

MPEG-2 TS
MPEG-2 PS
mPEG-1 VCD
PES AV
PES V
PES A
DVD
DVD Special 1
DVD Special 2

What are the differences?

Thanks again!

I'd also like to know the answer to this question if anyone can provide it.

Where did you get this list? Is it from the windows software? I use hauppauage cards on my knoppmyth box and I've never seen that list before.

It's available under the recording profiles set up option.

Sorry I can't answer the original question off the top of my head but maybe one of the AV sites...

TS = Transport Stream - essentially designed for broadcast.
PS = P-something Stream - designed for DVDs and the like.

A google search would get you more/better information.

Inside of those. One of the settings is the recording format. Come on people, this is like being told the salt is on the third shelf in the pantry and not looking beyond the first row of stuff...

Have you never setup your recording profiles? Not all Hauppauge cards have these setting though. Only hardware encoders (PVR-x50/500).

of course if it's not a hardware hauppage card it can't record to mpeg2 anyways and the whole point is mute.
