Everything is working on my system and I am starting to try out the features that make MythTV great. Today while watching live TV, I hit the "M" key on my keyboard (I don't have the remote completely coded yet), and the guide starts to come up (really nice overlay) however it them proceeds to exit mythTV. I am taken back to the black on white xWindow and I need to click on the desktop to start MythTV back up.

I did a search on this, both here and using google (guide live TV) with no luck. Any ideas?

(Sigh... Galeon ate my first attempt at this, some key combot that I hit accidentally about every couple weeks that makes it go bye-bye... So I'll make this brief...)

There is a known issue with 0.16 and older versions of the Nvidia drivers. 1.0-6111 and later are more reliable. You can find more about this over at gossamer threads: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/

I tried that thread but every search either cam back with over a 100 pages or nothing. I downloaded a driver and installed it from nVidia (1.0-6629-pkg1.run) I know it installed correctly because I downloaded and installed old version by mistake (1.0-6106) and I tried installingt 6629 it said it would need to uninstall 6106.

It could not find the proper drivers from the web site so it built it. In any event I THINK I have the latest driver, but I get the same thing. The guide starts comming up (with some empty boxes) and then MythTV exits.

Try this thread... http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2495 and follow the links about the "program guide related crash". Hmm that one wasn't quite right... I swear there's one from about the same time where I walk through the driver upgrade...

HELP! I'm going to have to stop worrying about my guide not working. I have a bigger problem. Ever since I did the driver upgrade, I now get a flickering white horizontal snow band across my screen (LiveTV). Also I get a horizontal snow band on the bottom 1/8th of my screen. I guess I should mention that I was running on R4V5 before all this started.

Just go to the NVidia website and download a previous version of the driver and install it. Repeat until problem goes away.

Thanks!

Thanks Andrew, I'll give that a try tonight. I started to freak out since I didn't want to reinstall as I started using the box "live" and have some recorded shows I want to watch

well 6111 cleared most of the problems. However, while the guide does work, its not working right. In the upper left hand corner which should have the "preview video" it just says "preview video" in the upper right hand corner is a messed up version of what I suspect is the video.

Any ideas on fixing this?
