Post subject:  Recovering orphan recordings

So I recently had a myth crash. I ended up reinstalling Myth using the new R5A10 with the Auto Upgrade option. I unwisely didn't have a backup, but after the crash, I couldn't create one. So I attempted an Upgrade with out it.

All in all, it came out pretty well. I used the myth.rebuilddatabase.pl to add all the recordings I had back into the database. I used the links in the pretty directory to reveal the titles.

However, while I can play them back, I can no longer edit the recordings to remove commercials so I can burn them to DVD. Also, when I try to skip 30 seconds forward, there is a 2-3 second delay as it tries to determine the length of the file to display. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? I assume there is something missing in the database.

New recordings are not a problem, just all the old ones I have recovered.

I should add that only Mpeg2 recordings have this problem, but mpeg4 recordings that have been recovered are fine. 30 second skips occur instantaneously and I am able to edit those.

Unfortunately I doubt there's much you can do. If you search the forums this has been discussed before, and mpeg2 recordings don't work so well with the recover script.
