I noticed a problem with my box after upgrading to R5A10. I started getting X failures because the nVidia driver failed to load at boot. It complained about being "out of vmalloc" space.

I searched Google and found a similar reference where the victim observed the problem seemed to be related to the amount of RAM installed. I pulled one strip, leaving my box with 512M bytes, and it works perfectly.

Vmalloc is a boot/kernel option . The default size seems to be 128MB . So what I would do to fix it is to add vmalloc=256m to double my VM in my kernel/boot line , but that is on my desktop pc and I use grub. In lilo I think you can add vmalloc=256m to your append line but I'm not 100% sure maybe some lilo gurus can confirm this. Oh and don't forget your lilo -v command to update your changes reboot and try.
