Post subject:  Xmame not working in R5A10 & 12
I noticed that someone else posted a synopsis message stating that Xmame was not functioning in the current releases. I verified that and deceided to try running xmame from the desktop. It worked correctly there so the question bodes: What's stopping it from working in KnoppMyth?

Also, it would be nice to be able to tweak the xmame settings via a command line sorta like what can be done for watching DVD's in mplayer. Just a thought.

XMame works fine via MythGame. You probably have MythGame sending it an unrecognized option. Run mythfrontend from an xterm, once started run mythgame. Select MAME and try to play a game. Once it doesn't, quit the frontend. You'll see the options that were passed to xmame. Try starting xmame with those same options. xmame will tell you which of those options it doesn't like. Resolve and reconfigure MythGame.

I'll have to try that when I get home but yes, I suspect that MythGame is passing some parameters that aren't quite working. The question I have is: How do I make these changes and reinstall MythGame?

Not being very familier with Debian, I'm not sure how to do this. Now if it were Gentoo, no problem. Thanks for you help.

There is no need to reinstall MythGame. From the main MythTV menu. Media Library -> Play Games -> MAME (ensure it is highlighted) and press 'i'.

Ok so, I ran mythfrontend, and found that xmame didn't like the "-joystick 4" option that was being passed to it. Modified the xmame configuration and tried it again and p00f! works like it should. Thanks cesman. And next time, I'll make sure to read the description for the forums before posting. I guess I was all excited from the ease of installation/use of KnoppMyth. It rules :D
