Post subject: | Frontend can't connect to database |
I have R5A10 installed on my backend and am trying to set up a frontend using 0.17. When running mythfrontend I get a message that says "Myth could not connect to the database." and in the console I get: 2005-03-21 13:53:37.392 Unable to connect to database! 2005-03-21 13:53:37.392 No error type from QSqlError? Strange... couldn't open db I can however connect to the database using mysql -h ipaddress -u mythtv -p mythconverg from the box I am trying to use as my front end without any problems. Any ideas? |

I forget, is R5A10 before or after the upgrade to 0.16? If before, you can't mix different versions of the FE and BE , they changed the protocol... |

According to the Sytem Status page on the backend box the version is 0.17.20050131-1 |

Did you make sure you placed the proper IP address to your master BE in mythtv-setup? look at your mysql.txt files too and make sure they're correct (just do a locate mysql.txt and it will show you where they are). |

Double checked the IPs in mythtv-setup both where 192.168.1.100 in the general tab. All mysql.txt files where set to 192.168.1.100 except the one in /etc/mythtv . I changed that one restarted the backend with /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend restart . Still get the same error. |

Just tried running the frontend off the cd on the box I am trying to install the frontend on and it worked, well I had to manualy load the snd_emu10k1 module then it worked. This is the same cd that the backend was installed from. |

Whoops! Finger fumble... Make that the upgrade to 0.17, however that's clearly not the problem if both are running 0.17. |

I upgraded the backend to R5A12 in hopes it would fix my problem and it still can not connect. Any one have any ideas what to try next? |

QSqlDatabaseManager::database: unable to open database: Driver not loaded: Driver not loaded Wish I would have noticed them before. Can any one tell me how to load the drivers? The frontend is a Mandrake 10.1 box. |

This probably would have been resolved much quickier if you stated that the frontend was on Mandrake. Details people, details. |
