Post subject:  HD resolutions when running from cd?

Hi, hope this dosn't sound to dumb but how can I set the desktop resolution to 1280x720 on a front end running from CD?
The available modes only seem to go to 1024x768 and I can't figure out how to add a mode since I can't write changes to the x86 config file. x68cfg almost looks like it will let me add a mode but then it never seems to be available from a pull down... is this just not doable from cd ?

If I start the CD install I can set knoppix screen=1280x720 depth=24 and this seems to work right up utnil X stars then it dumps back down to 1024.

The TV is a pany LC13 with a native mode of 1280x720 hence the desire to change it :)

Thanks

One can edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.

How can one save those changes when running from CD?

EDIT: Ok never mind I see that I can write (ram disk or somthing?).

Still not working but at least I can bang on it, I didn't get that it anything was manipulatable.

Thanks

You don't. You need to remaster with that XF86Config-4 in place but then that CD would only be good for that video card and display.
