Post subject:  Streaming video: VideoLan?

Hi second post:

DISCLAIMER: Downloaded iso of knoppmyth, waiting for my PVR350 - so this is conjecture!

I travel a lot and take a laptop with me. My home/office has a T1 internet connection now (by now I mean *finally*) so the up speed is appreciable (~1.5mbit/sec up and down).

My MythTV is sat on this pipe and I want a cool + geek way of watching my mythTV recordings via a streaming server.

I know real player have a basic stremaing server for linux, but I am confused and like a small startled creature in the headlights of oncoming traffic.

If anyone has got some decent performance for half-way-around-the-world watching TV quality broadcast (unicast, nothing illegal!) I would like to know! (one more hour of deutsche-welt in a hotel room... gah!). This is predicate on me having a decent broadband at the hotel, which often isn't the case.

I am curious, does anyone else use thier mythBox for this kinda stuff?

Been reading some posts on this baord, seems a nice place!

I believe this is what your your looking for http://mythstreamtv.sourceforge.net/

A friend of mine from work helped me get it working on my box. He had to strip away a lot of dependicies to get it working. Broadcast quality would probably depend on your upstream, but its fine for watching while working. I did it on Sunday when I was stuck working.
