The Wiki at the following URL: http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... tOnWindows contains this statement: KnoppMyth shares two folders by default: /home/mythtv/ and /myth/. Locate the /myth/pretty/ directory, which lists your recordings in easy-to-understand names, with .mpg extenders (instead of the .nuv names found in /myth/tv/). KnoppMyth R5A12 is the first version I ever got to install successfully and I don't see a /myth/pretty directory and my Win2K box gives me an error about "The account is not authorized to log in from this station" when I attempt to login using userid/password mythtv/mythtv. Is this information in the Wiki obsolete? |

yes and no. all of the shares and such are in a state of flux. they were not configured for a while now they are back, but I've had some problems with them. They will be correct and working again before R5 final release. |

As the install instructions state, "Samba as been configured to export /myth. It is however not set to start on boot. " Have you turned Samba on? Just double-checking the obvious stuff. http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... SambaHowTo |

Samba appears to be on: mythtv@mythtv:/etc/samba$ ps aux|grep smb root 2475 0.0 1.0 7848 2552 ? Ss Mar30 0:00 /usr/sbin/smbd -D root 2498 0.0 1.0 7848 2532 ? S Mar30 0:00 /usr/sbin/smbd -D mythtv 5074 0.0 0.1 1572 460 ttyp0 R+ 09:20 0:00 grep smb What's the correct syntax for mounting a Samba drive? I'm using \\192.168.1.120\myth in the map network drives dialog box and filling in mythtv as userid and password in the connect using a different user name dialog box. |

Lets not try to make it sound like something trivial as of R5A12 I have not been able to make the samba shares work myself. I know I had it working in R5A9, but at that stage I had to create the shares myself. I can't remember about R5A10, but I know it does not work for me in R5A12 I have just not bothered to put too much effort into why. I see the share on the network, but when I try to connect it just comes back and asks for the password again and I have double checked that the samba user exists and the password is correct. Like I said I haven't pushed too much farther into it than that. I just used sftp instead, but it is definitely something that should be looked at. |

Sorry, wasn't trying to trivialize. I'm using R5A10 and it works fine for me... I hadn't seen anything prior to this point that suggested there was a problem with connecting via Samba with R5A12. In fact, this lengthy post seems to imply that he has it running with R5A12 http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... amba+r5a12 Sometimes with XP I have an easier time of it when I actually create a "mythtv" user under XP. |

yes I imagine that whatever the problem is it does not affect everyone, or we would have heard more about it. By the way I am using linux to connect to the share. the Konqueror file manager to be precise, and I've never had a problem with it on any other shares or before R5A12 with mythtv. one of these days I will get frustrated and take the time to figure it out, but time is something I seem to have precious little of these days. |
