I am using R5A12 and a PVR-350 (with TV-Out working) and I am getting great playback results on my P3 1Ghz machine.

I have a collection of videos that are various formats (avi, divx, xvid - etc.) that will playback, but the machine is not strong engough to keep the audio and video in sync.

I am thinking of transcoding everything to mpeg2 in the hope of using the PVR-350s hardware decoder to playback in a better manner. I don't mind some quality loss, so long as the end result is reasonable looking and remains in sync.

Is anyone doing this (and if so - exactly how) or am I even on the right track with my thinking?
