RSA12
happauge 250 silver remote

new to linux, myth and knoppmyth

I have mangaged to get myth installed and working. It is awesome!!!

Searching this forum has yielded many solutions to small things like "snow" by changing tuner=39, walking me through installing the nvidia driver the hard way by first "untarring the kernel" and several other tweaks. All new to me.

My only real problem left is that I can't figure out how to get my "silver" remote working. I have searched the forum and the wiki. I have found lots of partial information, but I can't seem to make any coherent sense of it. Do I really need to recompile LIRC as described on the wiki or has that been fixed by RSA12? What is this "echo" thing? How do I "update modules" lircd.conf??

What are the steps I need to take to make it work??

If I have simply missed the location where the instruction are located, a point in the right direction would be appreciated. But believe me, I have been looking and trying various things for the last week without success.

BTW, I am quite sure that the remote works as it was working fine when I was running windows on the same setup before I installed knoppmyth.

Is this the model? http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3178 I was under the impression that you just needed the new config files shown there.

And you did follow Cecil's directions for getting lircd running in R5A12 right? http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3775

Thanks.

I saw both of them in my travels, but wasn't sure which one to follow (or both).

I will try to follow them.

Again, thanks.

Tried it. Worked no problem.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I never would have figured it out on my own.

KnoppMyth rules.
