Great to see KnoppMyth R5A15 released. I'll be installing it tonight.

One question though - in the release notes cecil says:

Quote:
create_lvm.sh: script to setup LVM to use it:
Code:
create_lvm.sh /dev/hda4 /dev/hdb1

This would create and LVM volume using /dev/hda4 and /dev/hdb1. You need to ensure the drives are partitioned before running the script. You can run this script after installing and rebooting. When presented with the xterm and request for root password, DON'T ENTER ANYTHING, instead:
Code:
 <CTRL><ALT><F1>

log in as root and create the partitions if need be, then run the script. Once complete
Code:
 <CTRL><ALT><F7>

and continue and installation. This is only for new installs. This script will not search for an exist LVM volume on auto upgrade (not yet..).

Can someone explain to me what LVM is? (I'm a noob)

Thanks. Do you think this is worth using in a dedicated Knoppmyth system?

I couldn't fit 2 disks into my Cubit 3 case even if I wanted to! :-)

Well, I think LVM is a fantastic idea. I think it would be a good idea for KnoppMyth to install the /myth partition as LVM by default. I guess working out the scripts to do it manually (as cesman seems to have done) is a good place to start. I look forward to the day where the KnoppMyth graphical installer lets you select the disks in your system that will be automatically formatted to become part of an LVM volume group (if thats the right term) for the /myth directory. (and of course have upgrades working seamlessly maintaining the LVM setup).
