Post subject: | Multiple Cable Sources / Tuners |
Got Myth setup and working well; however, I have two pvr250s. Each one is hooked up to a different cable source. If I choose (in the program guide) a channel from the second source, it always forces me to the first source with the same channel. In other words, if I choose FX on channel 29 on source B, it always selects MTV on channel 29. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks! |

Cool, thanks for the tip. But, what if I'm sitting on my couch with the grey remote? Is there a way to do that from there? Any tips on having it switch automatically for me based on the program I choose? |

Map a button for it. It's dead easy to do. Just edit your /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc file and replace the exisiting definition for the "Go" button under MythTV with this (OBTW - Make a back up copy of the file first of course): Code: begin
prog = mythtv button = Go # Switch cards... config = Y end The choice of button was arbitrary. All that lircd does is map button events to pseudo key presses. So pick a button that you're not using for prog=mythtv, and set it's config= to Y. |

Thanks for the tip. But I have to ask: Why doesn't it just change to the channel/tuner I choose in the program guide? If I choose to record the program, it records the program on the proper tuner. Why then, would it not just change the channel AND the tuner when I select a program? |

I have often wondered this myself, and I'm sure there is some technical reason for this, but the mythtv mailing list probably the dev list is a much better place to get an answer. |

but if multiple tuners used the same source, the issue goes away, right? kinda hard to keep up, is the 150/500 ivtv stuff close to production ready? I see mixed success reports (like the wiki doc) and warnings. Is there any risk that full support is not to far out either way? |

kinda hard to keep up, is the 150/500 ivtv stuff close to production ready? I see mixed success reports (like the wiki doc) and warnings. Is there any risk that full support is not to far out either way? I'm having good luck with the 0.3.x series of ivtv compiled on my R5A12 box using a pvr-500 connected to analog cable (and not using the s-video inputs). For now, I gave up trying to get the driver to also support the pvr-350 at the same time, but will try that again next week. That problem seems more of a manual config issue of telling some modules to ignore one or the other card during initialization/operation. From what I can gather, I believe the real test for "out of the box" 150/500 compatibility under Knoppmyth will be in a later release that pulls a newer ivtv-0.2.x release that has backported fixes for those two cards. And such a release of ivtv is available, though I'm not familiar with how stable it is. So...I don't think it'll be too long, but I'm also just a happy user watching progress on all three fronts (knoppmyth, ivtv, mythtv), so take what I'm saying as a guess. -brendan |
