Post subject:  smbclient, smbfs broken through apt-get?

I just did a fresh install of R5A15.1, and I'm trying to to set up Samba again so i can stream files from my WinXp box. When I tried to install each of the necessary packages (smbclient, smbfs) through apt-get, I get the following error:

Code:
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
smbclient is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 296 not upgraded.
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://debian.tu-bs.de ./ Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/debian.tu-bs.de_knoppix_nx_slh-debian_._Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

Is there a quick and easy fix for this?

Thanks!

well it said the package was already at it's latest version which means it is installed and at the latest version. the error is simply that one of the repositories was not online. not sure what that particular repository is for, but if it's one of the standard debian repositories you can always change it to be something like

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free

that's if you are in the us of course change it to another contry code for the mirrors from that country.

I have been getting the same error when I apt-get update or install something. I know next to nothing about linux, however, it appears that the repository directory at

http://debian.tu-bs.de/knoppix/nx/slh-debian

has been changed to

http://debian.tu-bs.de/knoppix/nx/old/slh-debian

I don't reccommend it, i think someone who knows what they are doing should give the nood, but I found that by adding /old/ to the line

http://debian.tu-bs.de/knoppix/nx/slh-debian

in /etc/apt/sources.list

took care of the error. Seems this is for the nxserver and client, which I do use to remote control my mythbox.

My question is, should I leave it like this or should I be pointing to some 'new' repository?

You can just comment it.

although if you look through the directories on that server there are some much newer versions, this could be worth some investigation.

...which is what I did earlier tonight when I was trying to get my box to load the library that dare not speak its name (here), which I thought I'd already loaded...and....

...it turned out that, during the R5A12->R5A15.1 autoupgrade, my system began suffering from the /dev/{cdrom,dvd} incorrect link and permissions problem. Thankfully, the solution was here on the forum.

...but, um, back to main point: adding a "#" on that line made apt-get and apt-cache begin behaving again.

what kind of investigation should be done? I would be happy to work on it with some guidance ;-)
