Post subject: | KnoppMyth Setup Queries |
Couple of quick queeries.. CAUTION - Linux n00b here ![]() Quote: all you have to wait for is the first week of TV scheduling to be downloaded.
What does this refer to ? I have a DVB-T card, does the TV not feed directly to the card.. like a normal TV would ? Also it mentions changing resolution if using a TV... as i will be using a monitor to set it up, then putting it on a TV later... where do i change the config file ? Finally, i have a remote for my TV card, which id like to use to navigate... how do i set this up ? it plugs into a small headphone jack like connector on the back of my TV card. PS ... KnoppMyth is a Windows MCE alternative isnt it ? Just to check im not completely wasting my time ![]() Hope someone can clear these things up for me. |

A few quick answers: 1. Based on the snippet you included, I assume the reference is to the downloading of program guide data. This is the info that enables the system to tell you when and on what channel various programs are playing on. 1-weeks worth of data means that you can view programming schedules up to one week into the future. 2. I don't recall the name of the file to edit to tweak resolution, but if you use the search function to search the forums you'll find threads that explain how to do this. If you are using a regular TV, you can use a resolution of 800 x 600 for both the TV & the monitor. 3. I haven't set up a remote control on knoppmyth -- can't help you there. 4. KnoppMyth is an alternative to MCE. I've never used MCE, but I suspect that Myth actually has more functionality. It would be a good idea to make sure your tuner card is compatible with knoppmyth before you try to set it up. Marc |

The tuner card needs to be compatible with Linux not KnoppMyth. ![]() |

Marc Thank you marc. 1 - Cheers, so thats just a schedule download, not the actual viewing... thats all i needed to know 2 - My TV is widescreen tube type, so i will find the res, and set it to that once i have finished with my monitor, thank you... 3 - No worries 4 - My TV tuner IS compatable, ive read of others using it, and a problem where up = down in the menus, otherwise it sounds ok Thanks for the help... this might sound trivial, but its like a first PC build, you worry about something stupid like screws ![]() Thanks cesman... it IS compatable ![]() |
