I'm running myth V5A16 & the April 5, 2005 Media MVP dongle build from sourceforge. Overall, the combination works very well, but I am experiencing some problems & I am wondering if others have seen this and perhaps have a solution:
    1. Audio sync: Audio sync is fine when playing the video, but sometimes after doing multiple 30-second skip forwards, the system looses audio/video sync. I've found that doing a few 8-second skip-backwards resyncs everything, but I'm wondering if others have seen this and found a way to prevent the problem all together. It's probably worth noting that my video is recorded at 352x480, 2200kpbs, audio at 224kpbs, sampling rate of 48khz. I am using the Hauppauge PVR-250 capture card.

    2. Displaying jpg images: Using the file browser I attempt to show some photos (jpg files). After viewing 3-4 of them, the system hangs and I need to power cycle.

    3. I don't see a front-end for either music or photos -- does it not exist or am I simply not seeing something. Using the file browser for photos doesn't provide a slideshow mode, so it's kind of awkward...

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Marc

Just to let you know, I experience the same audio sync problems running my MediaMVP as a MythTV frontend and also did before when using various versions of the Hauppauge software with a Windows host. I think Hauppauge did fix it at one point though on their beta software. Hope someone fixes it soon on the Myth Frontend version as this problem really sucks.

The other problem I have is that I run a slave backend using the native myth protocol and the MediaMVP doesn't take kindly when you move the cursor over a recording that's not on the Myth backend that I connect it to. Just moving the cursor over a recording on the other backend causes the MVP to reboot. Seems not many people utilize the storage on multiple backends over the Myth protocol instead of NFS/Samba mounts to keep all recordings on one backend. This problem makes the MVP almost unusable for me as a Myth frontend so I think I'll end up building another regular frontend soon.

Steven:

I don't have any suggestions for the multiple back-end problem, but Jon has provided a viable work-around for the audio/vidio sync problem. The red "record" button, which is not currently used by the MVP myth front-end, will introduce a brief video-delay. I find that hitting this button 4 times consistantly in a row bring audio/video back into sync. You might want to send an email message to the MVPMC email list to see if anyone has a suggestion for dealing with the mutliple back-end problem.
