Hi,

My knoppmyth box is now running nice and smooth. When i access mythweb from the box the pages are refreshed as the should, but when i access it from another computer in my LAN thing are going very slowly(6-7 kbps).

The network between the other computers in my network are working correctly.

Any idea of what wrong?

I'm using knoppmyth r5a16.
Perhaps I should update my lancarddriver?

I'm using a static IP for all my computeres. They are connected through a Linksys BEFW11s4 switch/router.
Could that be the problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

there is some problem with samba that I don't think anyone had definitively tracked down. you can try using sftp with a program like winscp and searching the forums there are several threads about this, but If I remember correctly the solution ended up being hey one time when I rebooted it just started working or something goofy like that.

Could be an autonegotiation mismatch between the NIC and the switch. You can either try a different switch or hub (which you can daisychain to your existing Linksys switch/router) or see if you can force the driver for the NIC to 100 MBit full duplex or whatever the switch supports. If you can't set the NIC options then another NIC (using a different driver) may also help. I've seen similar issues with a Xircom card connected to a 100 MBit switch. Connecting it to a 100 MBit hub solved it in my case.
Lastly it could also mean dodgy network cables. Make sure pin 1+2 and 3+6 are twisted together.

I guess the problem had something todo with my Linksys Router. After upgrading the firmware the networkspeed is as it should be

Just to follow up on this thread, I too experienced slow sftp transfers to my myth box, and the clue of updating Linksys router firmware sounds like a good idea. Will edit this post with results when I get home!

Its painful to watch a 700mb video file take an hour to transfer!

Well I don't know why I was using this method (SFTP) instead of WinSCP, perhaps this needs to be made more clear in documentation.

My speed problems had nothing to do with my router, they were a function of my method of transferring files.

Using SFTP to transfer an 800mb avi file took about an hour.
Using WinSCP to transfer the same file took about 6 minutes.

I am having this issue as well, running version R5F1.

With Samba speed varies, but runs at about 1.5MB. On a recommendation from above, I tried WinSCP but I only got 550 cps.

I have a GB switch and when I copy to my Linux server it is not a problem, it is only when I copy to KnoppMyth.

Any ideas, I am all out.

Firstly it isn't the switch, as I just recently went from a Netgear FS-108 (10/100MB) switch to a DLink (10/100/1000) switch.

Both the sending computer and my KnoppMyth box are using the onboard nics, with the KnoppMyth box being a Gigabyte 8IG1000MK and my main computer being a MSI Neo2 (something, something, something).

Copying to the main computer from another computer works fine, especially now using Gigabit.

I have also just found out that the KnoppMyth box is having trouble with keeping it's static IP address, but that is for another thread.
