Post subject:  zsnes digital sound

I have tried for a week now (without success) to get the sound from zsnes to play through the digital audio out on my Abit NF7-S. The motherboard uses an Nforce2 chipset. I have been through the digital audio how to on the wiki and everything else on myth goes through the digital out. zsnes does output audio through the analog audio out. I have tried setting the default audio out to analog, mixed digital, and digital (I verified the settings work using aplay).

I also installed snes9x and have the same results. I have not run any nes emulatous or mame yet but suspect I will have the same delima.

Is there a way to force all audio through the digital out regardless of what program or user account it origionates from?

I would even buy a sound blaster live! if thats what it takes

I am running R5A16

please help me

Several years ago, I had a similar problem. I decided to try OSS and after a few emails, I was able to get everything up and running with no problems.

Sorry to be rude, but that's not really a fix (nice to know you got it working though)... and I'm having the same problem.

SPDIF works for videos, tv, nestopia, etc...but not zsnes. I've tried every audio setting. OSS bombs out with the error ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:996:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave.

Help!

I just got the audio in zsnes working by running
Code:
zsnes -ad sdl

I then had to change the audio sample rate to 44100 to eliminate the scratchy sound. I tried 48000 first, but that didn't do it. This was through the spdif connection on my av 710
