I've been running for ever with a single pvr-250. I just bought a pvr-150 off ammazon and I'm trying to get it working on my myth box. The system see's it, because as soon as I booted back up, my 'Live TV' was just snow. Once I moved my coax (for cable tv) from my original card to the new card, the picture came right back to life.

I've ran through mythtv-setup and configured /dev/video1 as a new source. I added a new video source (a copy of the original) and bound it to tuner0 on /dev/video1 (no idea if I needed to or not)

So now when there's a recording in progress, I still can't watch live tv.

Here it shows that it does see both cards, not just the new one.

root@mythtv:~# lspci | grep Encoder
0000:00:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
0000:00:0d.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)

I've done:

cat /dev/video1 > test.mpg

When I playback test.mpg, it's black.

Any suggestions? Is there a module I needed to load?

Should just work if the IVTV drivers recognize the card correctly.

This wiki page tells you how to check this in the logs files: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CheckingLogFiles

If you're on a relatively modern version of KnoppMyth this wiki page tells you how to upgrade to the latest ivtv drivers: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv

Sounds like you aren't too far off in mythtv-setup, but you may want to revisit it and double check everything. BTW - The 2nd video source definition isn't really necessary if both cards are connected to the same cable or antenna.

Aww, the second wiki did the trick. I recompiled ivtv, re-ran mythtv-setup, deleted my cards and recreated them like the wiki said.

And now... I have two tuners :D

Thanks for the help
