I am getting around to finally archiving some of my episode DVD sets: Family Guy, Band of Brothers, From the Earth to the Moon, etc...

Does anyone have a good way to keep these seperate from the normal movies? I don't want to clutter the main video screen with individual episodes from the disks, but I do want to be able to browse them and get the IMDB info.

I guess I could set a filter and show/hide categories, but that seems a little kludgy. I figured I would ask here before I hit the MythTV threads and search through everything over there.

Hey brianmat, did you ever devise a good solution for this? I finally finished ripping all (yes, ALL) of my dvd's, some of which are episodal. I'd like to find a good organization method for these.

Thanks!

I organized my shows in folders and then just browse the directory structure in LIST view ie..

/myth/video/TV/PBS Series/Season 1
/myth/video/TV/PBS Series/Season 2

I think your view choices are LIST, BROWSER and GALLERY. I think there is a key that will allow you to change view while in video browser. M key maybe?

Look in Utilites / Setup>Setup>Media Settings>Video Settings>Gernal Settings for the view settings.

Thanks spalVl, that method does work... sort of. In List mode, it's perfect -- browseable just like the music database. But, the wife likes to use the Gallery mode. Something about being able to see all the covers. However, in gallery mode the directories get listed first (non-alphabetically), and can't have a cover applied.

The cover is a "would be nice" thing, but there's gotta be a way to cause the directories to get listed alphabetically with the other files, especially since list mode seems to know how to do it. I didn't see any options to that effect, if I get some time (unlikely this weekend) I'll try to dig around a bit.

Thanks!

Nope, never found a really good solution. I am surprised someone hasn't come up with a clever solution. I am still in the "knows enough to be dangerous" category, but far from a Linux expert.

I keep checking the MythTV forums for some enlightenment, but so far no luck.

I use Folder view. It's like a combination of the gallery view, but with organization.
