I havent setup my Knoppmyth system but will be tommorow.

Im initially putting it together at my house but the final location will be my gf's.

Is there an option AFTER you complete install to allow you to easily change zipcode and channel settings?

Since i live in one zipcode with a different channel settings for my cable provider and she lives in a different zipcode with diff channel settings.

Sorry if this is a silly question but not having installed yet or in past im curious to know if i will have to do a complete re-install twice, or if i'll have to do some command line changes once i take the system over to her place.

Setting up the channel lineup, etc. is down at zap2it.com's website. You can set it using your info. Faster testing, etc. when you move it to her house, just run mythtv-setup and answer yes to the second question. After this, just reconfigure.

I'm guessing these instructions mean to ctrl alt f1 and type the command mythtv-setup at the command line correct?

also im still on the current first install following the instruction from here http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=DocsPage

Quote:
6c. Select Video Sources, and run through these choices. If you are in North America, leave it on the DataDirect? setting. If you are in North America and using cable or satellite, leave it on US Cable. You'll need to change this only if you're using broadcast TV.

If you are outside North America, please search the KnoppMyth wiki and forums.

I notice teh instructions are slightly different but i left it as NA Datadirect, and i changed the frequency table to "us-cable"

now where in the blanks for User Id and password i place my username and pw for zap2it. then clicked "retreive Lineups" which gives me a status bar that goes directly to 50%, sits there for about 15 seconds then dumps me back to the "Select Video Sources" setup screen, with no lineups available to choose from.

Is that a problem at zap2it's end or possible error on mines?

nevermind, resolved the problem on my own.... found someone on our network figured it was ok to use up all the bandwidth... which was causing zap2it not to connect even though i didnt notice any issues with my surfin on this PC....

I get an error "Authorization Failed" after trying to "retrieve lineups"

In the blanks for User Id and password I enter my (working on the zap2it websitie) username and pw for zap2it. then clicked "retreive Lineups" which gives me a status bar that goes directly to 50%, sits there for about 15 seconds then dumps me back to the "Select Video Sources" setup screen, with no lineups available to choose from.

Is this a problem at Zap2it's end or possible error on my end?

Same error message when I run "mythfilldatbase"

SYSTEM SPECS:
R5A26

WinTV tuner card (Gateway2000 Part Number 6001237 "Hauppauge WinTV PCI TV Tuner Card")

P4 2.4Ghz
512Ram
Radeon 9000AGP
(2) RealMagic MPEG-2/DVD Decoder (EM8300) (not currently installed)
DVD
CD-R/W

I have not added the Realmagic cards yet because I am not sure how to configure them. I am a linux "Newbie" and wanted to get the basics working first.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure if its the right answer but when i ran into this problem exactly as you described initially.

I ended up unpluggin ALL other computers from my network and running the mythbox directly to the cable modem. and that fixed that issue. I think maybe the download is really huge? Not sure :(

just my 2 cents, hope you get it resolved! (i still havent gotten my mythbox to work properly but its been fun and educational learning my linux this way :) )
