Post subject:  2 pass xvid transcode option?

Hi,
Is there a way to configure MythTV to perform a two pass xvid transcode of recordings? I can set my recording profile to automatically transcode but I do not see any options to configure the xvid transcode.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

I too would like to do this so I can play recordings at the best quality over a long range/low speed Wi-Fi connection to an Xbox xbmcmythtv frontend. An xvid 2 hour movie on 1 CD plays fine over this connection.

Mythtranscode does not do multipass encoding. Maybe nuvexport could be configured to run in the JobQueue after recording instead of mythtranscode. I don't know if this will upset the Myth frontend playback as nuvexport exports to AVI instead of NUV. At the moment I am googling nuvexport command line options and scripts to run in jobqueue. This information is hard to find! First I will see if Myth frontend will play an exported AVI through the recorded programs menu, without issues.

Could you instead modify the script to export the videos to /myth/video/%SHOWNAME%.%SEASON%.%EPISODE%.avi, if Myth frontend cannot play XviD avi ?

Mythfront end can play xvid files, but it is generally mplayer that handles the playing not the frontend. You could also use another player on a per file basis if needed.

Have you had any luck finding the information you need to start to do it this way.. I was quite shocked to see the lack of options available in the mythtranscode area as the rest of myth goes above and beyond when it comes to options and configurability.

Please check http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight= for an update.

I am using a method to transcode TV recordings to DVD MPEG-2 and replacing the original recording. This could be easily modified to support custom ( 2 pass, set bitrate, etc ) MPEG-4.
