Whats the typical cd import speed for an audio cd people are seeing..

I thought I had a faultly IDE cable and replaced it... but it made no difference ...

importing a single cd took around 2-3 hours (ie less than 1x speed) the CD drive is a CDRW which should be ALOT faster than that - is there a terrible schoolboy error im making here ?

The drive was from my spares store cupboard (unused for approx 2 years) but worked well enough to install knoppmyth

any ideas anyone ...

I don't use the music part much, but the few times I've tested it I've always thought it was dog slow. I used programs years ago that would rip a song in 45 seconds, yet myth takes almost as long to rip the song as it does to encode it. Like I said I've never looked for the cause of this as I don't use it, but just confirming yes it's ridiculously slow.

Hi declanh,

Mine takes about ~ real time, may be a liittle less. I have it set for vbr , medium, lame so they are mp3's. Will probably switch to ogg for the better quality in the future.
