so im looking at Myth TV with Knopmyth to replace my tivo. i was wondering if you can control the main myth tv menu through IR. I own a philips touchscreen remote with programmable IR codes so im set there. Can i change channes with remote, look at guide with remote?? Or do i need a keyboard Im thinking about making 1 with HD-3000 and a regular hauppage 350 THX you guys i love theses forums keep up the good work |

There are supposed to be ways to do everything from your remote. Main menu works fine, program guide works fine, ... I'm struggling to think of something that's more difficult or impossible... Maybe something like search by name where you need to enter text... |

The only time I use a keyboard on my myth box is when I need to locally open an xterm (not very often). I do most remotely from my desktop, as well as using mythweb to schedule programming. |

Admittedly I don't have mythTV running yet. But one of the main reasons I am going to it is so I can enter text to search for. I want this for TV programs as well as music. I also plan on adding a DVD jukebox, will want it there too. |
