I just redid my mythtv box with the knoppix R5A16. everything works fine except when I go to mute my line in and set it to capture. There is no capture option. I tried doing it with amixer but I think I just screwed things up more.
Didnt have this problem with the old version of knoppixmyth that used the 2.4 kernel.
Anyone know the fix for this?
Sound blaster live value (emu10k1)
WinTV GO (bttv)

I couldn't get audio capture to work either but I do have a different setup than you.
I hope the powers that be update ALSA in the next version. I think it's messed up.

I have an audigy and I toyed with this problem for some time. The audigy uses the same driver and it captures automagically you just need to turn up the capture volume.
When you start alsamixer (ver. 1.08) it will tell you what mode it is in, to change to capture mode, you need to press tab and it will change mode.
Play with the volumes there, I can't remember exactly which one you need to turn up, but I think you will work it out.

ok, so, I've had a working system with a Hauppauge 250, and the chaintech motherboard. Sound volume never worked, nor did the MB have the 6 channel sound it claimed to have. OK, whatever, no big deal.
So, I added a cheap WinTV-GO card. It captures video fine. Sound capture through the motherboard inputs results in a high pitched whine over the sound (the wintv-go requires the sound patch cord).
OK, so, I figure, I got a Soundblaster Audigy laying around, might as well pop that in and see if it works and then maybe I'll get my volume to work as well.
It works, on both counts. No static, and volumes work.
Only one problem. Using the alsamixer, on the capture "page", I can turn down all the controls except the input from the wintv-go. Great! But if I attempt to watch any recorded video, it turns the PCM back up to 100%, which means the show currently being recorded starts sampling not only from the wintv, but from the whole audio from mythtv.... which includes the video playing, and *itself*... if you are watching the video that's being recorded from the winttv, you get an audio version of looking into two parallel mirrors... ie the sound keeps layering on itself. Bad!
I cannot get mythtv to stop turning the PCM capture back up to 100%. So I can record two shows now, but, I dont dare watch anything at the same time (the duron 900 can barely handle that anyway..)
Anybody got a solution to this?
