Post subject: | A few newbie problems |
I just got this up and running today, and I'm having a few problems configuring. I'm a newbie to linux, so I used the KnoppMyth distro for install. #1 Channel Frequency table. My cable comany reps do not know. I am with SHAW in Alberta Canada. Any thoughts where to find this info? (Google doesnt seem to know either) #2 Capture Card Setup : I have a WinTV-PVR 150 card, when I go to add a new capture device, it gives me a few to many options as far as I can see, I dont know what to pick. Here is my video hardware: Geforce FX5500 (Dual VGA, S-Video Out) WinTV-PVR 150 ( Composite, Coax, S-Video IN) I choose cardtype as "standard V4L card" It gives me a list for default input: S-Video 0 S-Video 1 Composite 0 Composite 1 Composite 2 Composite 3 Tuner 0 Tuner 1 I only have 1 coax input on the computer, so I dont see why 2 Tuners are appearing. (never mind the 4 composites). Using just US-Cable or US-Cable-hrc, setting either or both tuner 0 or 1 up (tried 1 at a time and both at once) When I try to choose watch TV, I get a black screen wich I can not back out of (have to alt+tab and close (X) the console to get back to workspace). Any Ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thnx Jay |

pvr150 is a hardware mpeg2 card, though in the current version of knoppmyth you will probably have to download and compile newer ivtv drivers. see the pvr150 howto page on the wiki. |

Hey Jaymo, Im in Calgary, and can help you out in a week or so, im moving right now, email me scott.mckay@NOSPAMcontrolaltdeleted.com (remove the obvious). as well, i have a pvr150 setup guide in the Hints and Tips Section of the forums that will walk you through getting the hardware to work properly, and even the onboard IR blaster that came with the pvr150 - so you can control a shaw DCT (digital cable terminal) |
