Post subject:  Hard drive requirements for Frontend

What are the storage requirements for a frontend computer? I have an old 3G drive that I could use, would this be sufficient? This is for a frontend installed on the hard drive and the only additional software I would be downloading (that I can think of) would be new versions of Xine, and codecs. How much space does installing Knoppmyth take up, and are there "large" files you can delete if you aren't running a backend?

Thanks in advance.

I think a default knoppmyth install takes somewhere between 2-3g so you should be able to get away with a drive that small though it might reek havock on the part of the install that attempts to determine partition sizes, so you may have to do a manual install. There is a wiki page about the changes that need to be made for a frontend only install. of course there is always the network boot option which doesn't require a hard drive at all.

network boot option? I'll have to look into that. Does that cause problems w/ Xine codecs, etc?

I still have to debug the network boot option... THere maybe an issue with it. Just do a manual install on the 3 gig drive... KnoppMyth should take up about 50%....
