Post subject:  Transition to TV so close!!!

Ok, I followed the how to here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6299 and was let down at the last step.
The tv screen turned black then green and the black and grey stripes ensued. Text even scrolled, and then stopped on the monitor! Unfortunately the Mythtv gui never appeared on my tv ( the stripes just stayed there for 20+ minutes ).

I'm using version R5A16 and a Hauppauge pvr-350 and followed the directions to a T. The only difference between my setup and the how to is that I am using Directv. Zap2it was the way to go in my case but everything else was identical!! Just for reference, I have s-video running from my dtv box to my pvr-350 svideo in and I don't have sound running to my 350 yet, mainly because i don't have the necessary adapter yet (composite sound from dtv box to mini-jack sound in on pvr-350).

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!!

I'm new to Linux and Forums, but I am making a serious effort!!

Black and green bars sounds familiar. Search the other 350 threads, I'm sure it's been covered... Maybe a frame buffer issue?

Thanks for the reply!

Actually it was black and white(or greyish) bars. Near the end of the how to i supplied it states that this is supposed to happen, and then 5+ minutes later the myth gui should appear. Mine never did.

But I will take your suggestion and keep searching on that topic.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

That thread is worth reading from the beginning. There are several bits about black and grey bars that don't go away. There's also another similar thread that's much older which implicates the framebuffer (fb).
