ivtv 0.3.9 will be branched to 0.4.0 stable this weekend (per ivtv-devel list). Hans (and several others) have been pounding away at audio issues for months. Only one issue remains, so 0.4.0 will eventually be patched when that is addressed. 0.5.0 will be the new unstable release. Please note that the xdriver is no longer a part of ivtv and has it's own versioning system. Is there any way we can get a new knoppmyth based on the new 0.4.0 driver when it comes out? Pretty please?

KnoppMyth is the only thing I have come close to getting to work on the hardware I specifically bought for my first Myth system. Many people desire to use a PVR-500 or 150 with KnoppMyth, and have great complication doing so.

My hardware has been sitting in a closet for over a month waiting for KnoppMyth to support it. I have invested about 30 hours trying to get it to work other ways, and have had to give up for lack of resources.

Simply put, a new release of IvyTV itself doesn't warrant a new release of KnoppMyth. Now, a new release of KnoppMyth is actively being worked on and tested. It does include the latest IvyTV drivers. From the testing I've done, the PVR-150 and PVR-500 MCE just work... Happy?

RichardBronosky , I hope you did not really just say that to cesman. holy crap man, if all you need is a newer version of ivtv installed, the forums here have step by step instructions ad nauseam. There was just a thread recently on getting this working. I followed the thread and got my 500 working in under an hour. Granted, ivtv still has some flaws, at least for me they were enough to put the 500 in a drawer for a bit longer. the Knoppmyth developers will include it when the time is right, until then I would be a little nicer about it, and follow the directions to update yourself. I would rather not watch the wrath of cecil hit you on the head for a comment like that. I have been thumped before... it is not fun. :-)
Do a quick search for update and ivtv. You should turn up an answer. If I find the exact thread I used, I will update this for you.

Wow, I see what you mean about "the wrath"

I'm not familiar with who different people are. I now see that cesman is a developer. I'll take note of that for the future.

I'm not trying to taunt anyone. I just thought the comment
Quote:

was underplaying the value of the latest IVTV driver. I was simply trying to state why it had value to users who have been unable to get their systems working as of yet.

If cesman's original response would have stated

I wouldn't have made a post at all.

I guess my last line didn't need to be there. The exclamation point certainly did not need to be there. For that, I'm sorry. It seems that the culture here is much different than on the mythtv-users and ivtv-devel mailing lists. I'll be much more careful in the future.

Guess I won't be getting that cool mill... My original statement still stands. Why should I produce a release when it is trival to recompile ivtv? I dropped several hints that a new release was being worked and that the 150 and 500 work. I don't like being asked when a new release is going to be out. I don't like being asked to include something w/o the 5 W's and how. I don't like threads being hijacked.

Let me just explain a little bit why we don't like to release too early. We might have ivtv working but 4 more things broken well everyone is overjoyed at their 150 working, but the frontend crashes or something like that, so we have to read 200 messages about that, that is alot of time we can't spend fixing the problems. Not that any of the problems in testing have been as large as the frontend fails, but there are still bugs, as I'm sure there will be when it's released, but we want to squash all of them that we can find with a limited set of people looking for them that can go along ways towards tracking them down and in some cases just handing in a fix before the masses start in on the this doesn't work. me too. me too. me too. I assure you these things are being worked on and many bugs are being squashed very quickly right now, along with many new features creeping in. I'm fairly certain almost everyone (there's always that one guy who's never going to be happy) will be happy with the next release. You just need to be a bit patient. At the current pace it's looking like sooner rather than later.

I'm not trying to argue here. I've stated my personal short comings. I was able to recompile ivtv. I could not work out the bugs. I'm not alone.

I didn't spend a lot of time researching your hints since I had no idea who you are. I did a search. I found this thread. I saw your short comment. "New releases of KnoppMyth will be released when I feel it warrantys a release." I elaborated the need.

Your short answer could have been, "In the works, no ETA."

I'm very familiar with netiquette. I don't see exercising humility in asking "Is this inappropriate?" to be inappropriate in itself. I didn't hijack a thread. I warmed a cold thread. I asked others to donate money if they had a request, rather than being a "gimme, gimme" community.

I came here with a need. I searched to see if the need had been met or requested. I added a comment to the existing request I found. I then searched for a way to contribute financially to the cause. How dare I!

Here at Yahoo! we have an internal group of MythTV users. We are very active in the OS community. You should have asked for a few hundred, even a few thousand. You could actually see that happen.

I guess I'm really not going to get that million... If you don't want to argue, why continue? Why is it I feel, I'm being made to justify myself? My original statement still stands.

You warmed a thread for your own interest. In my mind that is hijacking. Not that I care about the money, but it is interesting that I have not seen anything... Just saying.
