Hi, I just finished setting up knoppmyth in my pvr (pics here: http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~daneel/photoa ... index.html ) My tuner is a hauppauge pvr 350 with the dog-bone shaped grey remote (There's a pic at the url above). According to the knoppmyth documentation, lirc is compiled and configged to work with them by default, but it doesn't in mine. I checked the ir receiver and it seems to be plugged in correctly (pics: http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~daneel/photoa ... index.html ) Note; I'm using knoppmyth R5 A16. Also, my keyboard & mouse are connected to the pvr (else my bios freezes during bootup). Dunno if that might be causing a problem. I ran "irw" on a local terminal (on the tv) and pressed the keys on my remote & got nothing. Didn't work in mythfrontend either. the log files (both /var/log/message & /var/log/daemon.log) show that lirc detects my Hauppauge IR port. I have the log entries here: http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~daneel/varlog and the output of dmesg in http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~daneel/dmesg One other note: Whenever I press a button on the hauppauge remote, the IR sensor on the TV (for the tv's remote) flashes (even if I point it away from that and towards the IR receiver of the hauppauge card) I noticed one wierd thing. running 'locate irw' shows 2 separate binaries of irw (corresponding to different versions, it's here: http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~daneel/locateirw). The one in /usr/bin is irw 0.7.1pre2, the other in /usr/local/bin is irw 0.7.0. The debian .deb package for lirc in the apt database shows the former as part of the lirc package. Where did the latter come from? Could that be causing the problem? I also ran the lirc-reconfig.sh script and rebooted, still nothing with irw or in mythtv. Spent a whole day googling and searching knoppmyth wikis and lirc docs and couldn't get it to work. I'd really appreciate some advice at this point. Thanks for your attention Regards, AR |

I thought it was set up for the old remote out of the box, but that didn't work right off the bat either... ![]() ![]() |

I did. I selected "TV-Card" and "Hauppauge TV-Card" and it finished running and I rebooted. Nothing. No remote, no response from irw, nothing! ![]() Should I recompile lirc manually or what. What about the 2 different irw binaries I mentioned in my last post? Anything to it? |

I'm not sure about the 350, but for the Nova-T that is exactly what you should NOT do. You should set it up using devinput. |

You should set it up using devinput. Not sure what you mean. I have a directory /etc/lirc/devinput where there is one file named "AVerTV_DVB-T_771". It looks like a key map file for this Avertv remote. Should I move my hauppauge config file here? Please elaborate. |

I mean when you run lirc-reconfigure.sh. "Other" then "Linux input layer" But I just realised that might be only for DVB-cards... |

What is the best way to tackle this problem? Should I just read the lirc docs line by line and try to manually map remote keys to mythtv keystrokes or try something else? |

"Other" then "Linux input layer" But I just realised that might be only for DVB-cards... Easy way to tell: Open a console, press 1 on the remote, if its an input device a 1 will apear, if not, then nothing will happen ![]() |
