I've got a two-machine configuration; master backend w/some PVR-250's, and secondary backend with a PVR-350. I'd had some problems getting audio on the 350's audio output to work, but tweaked the database to fix it; see http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 8724#38724 for more.

But I think I spoke too soon when I said that "audio works", because I've -just- discovered that I can't get audio out of any recorded show!

I first tripped over this when I noticed that I wasn't getting live audio, either. Rebooting the SBE (aka my frontend, since it's got the 350) didn't help at all, but then rebooting the master backend made audio work on the SBE; it's possible they got out of sync with each other database-wise, maybe.

But even after rebooting, I have no audio on recordings. A test recording I made yesterday doesn't have any, and a test recording I just made after rebooting everything doesn't have any, either. Where should I be looking to fix this?

Thanks...

I don't have any experience running myth on anything other than a single system.

Did you try to see if audio was present from both the mobo audio ports and the pvr ports?

An interesting idea. (I was under the impression that the audio simply wasn't available when sending a stream to the 350 (e.g., it stayed multiplexed together until demuxed on the card). I'm not sure if this is true, though.)

In any event, I tried plugging into the audio-out on the motherboard on both the MBE and the SBE while playing a recording & heard nothing. I also tried both machines while playing live TV; also heard nothing (unsurprisingly), though I'm definitely getting audio out of the 350 in live TV. (And I know that my test of the two machine's mobo audio-out is valid, because a third, identical machine, which is my general-usage machine, has no trouble playing a random realaudio stream out -its- mobo-out and into my stereo; it's doing so right now, using the very same cables, etc.)

More datapoints:

I tried doing a manual recording, and then started it playing. No audio on PVR-350's audio-out, as before. I then tried plugging directly into the motherboard audio-out on both the MBE and the SBE. Still no audio out.

(I should also note that, while that recording was being recorded, I tried "Watch TV" on the FE (aka SBE) machine, and got just a black screen. There is more than 1 tuner in this setup, so shouldn't I have seen something? So I bailed out a few seconds later into the menu, since I wasn't sure what else to do. Then, once the recording finished, trying Watch TV gave me video -and no audio- until I changed the channel a couple of times, at which point audio came back for Watch TV. This whole thing is just really, really flaky, and I'd like to figure out why.)

I tried doing "select * from settings;" in the database and searched for things with audio in their names. I noticed PVR350InternalAudioOnly, whose doc in some source file I was reading claimed that was for looping the audio through the soundcard in (or somesuch); its value was 0 (for all five "hosts" that the installation process has managed to generate for me, e.g., myth-frontend, myth-master-backend, mythfe1, mythtv, sbe; god only knows which ones are -really- being used). Setting it to 1 and trying to play audio still didn't work, so I set it back to 0.

I'm now out of ideas. Except perhaps to try a fresh one-machine install on the machine that has the 350 (what's currently my SBE) and see if audio out to the 350's audio-out works -at all- under A22 for recorded video. If it does, I suppose I can try to compare -every- database setting and see if that's it. That's a few hours of work; I'd rather not have to get into this if anyone's seen this behavior before.

Help? Anyone?
