Post subject:  Using mythstreamtv?

I was pleased to see that mythstreamtv is already setup in R5A22. Following the instructions from the Wiki -

Quote:
Go to mythweb and you should see a new link "Stream Recordings"
Select a stream, select http as protocol, click "Start Live Stream" and then click "Play".
I suggest you try to connect via local lan first if possible. Point your video player to http://ip.of.mythwebbox:8001 and it should start playing.

I did this with Kaffeine, and gmplayer. Both gave the same results - a screen full of rainbow coloured chunky pixels, and no audio. I tried both video codecs with similar results.

Any suggestions?

Here's the command line output of gmplayer

I'm a little confused here, can you help me understand waht you are doing?

Are you starting the stream via mythweb..this should start VLC is server streaming mode.

Are you then attempting to view the stream with a mplayer client?

Are the errors you posted from the client or the streaming server? I'm going to guess the client. since VLC is the server unless you made changes to the mythstreamtv scripts.

I would suggest tow things to try.

1) look in /myth/stream/log.txt for any errors from the vlc server
2) maybe you can try viewing the stream via the vlc client

If I'm way off base here, please set me straight

Does this work with HDTV recordings? I tried it with an HD recording and I got the same results as ffrr.

When I tried with an SD recording from my PVR150, everything worked great.

Yes, I am starting the stream with mythweb, as per the instructions I posted.
e.g.
Code:
Go to mythweb and you should see a new link "Stream Recordings"
Select a stream, select http as protocol, click "Start Live Stream" and then click "Play".

I tried Xine, Kaffeine, and gmplayer (which is mplayer with a gui frontend)

Yes, they are the command line output from where I ran gmplayer (the stream viewer/client/receiver)

I'd rather not have to use it as a client.

I am not using HD. Please don't assume that is the problem here.

It was just to test to isolate the issue. if the vlc client works then you can debug the gmplayer client, if vlc client cant display output from the vlc server then maybe its the streaming side...it was just a suggestion.

Has anyone used VLC to stream PAL? maybe there are setting in the streamer to deal with the format

OK, thanks.

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread earlier, but this forum has stopped notifying me of replies by email for some reason.
